Give to yourself:
You’ll set the example and kick-start your fundraising!

Know your networks:
Make a list of every person you know—friends, family, neighbors, acquaintances, and business associates. You have just created your donor list.

Aim high:
Set a goal that seems just out of reach. It will inspire you and the people you’re asking for support.

Set up your fundraising page to tell your story:

Ask far and wide!:
Many think the initial ask can be difficult, but it’s easier if you tell everyone WHY you are doing what you are doing. The excitement is contagious and your story will inspire others. Your commitment and passion will be the reason they choose to give you a pledge! Remember, you aren’t asking them to give YOU a donation, you’re giving them an opportunity to make a difference.

Share your progress online and get social & creative:
Email and post on social media your progress towards your goal.

Thank your donors:
Be sure to thank your donors, no matter what amount given.

Have fun:
We’re all serious about our favorite charity, but Bangor Area Challenge for Charities is also about having fun in the process. The combination of having fun and having a huge impact on our community will have a huge impact on you.

Want to take fundraising offline?:
You’ll probably find this form helpful. Just keep in mind that unless you mail your donations well in advance of event day, they can only be tallied on event day and won’t go towards earning perks.

FAQ

Where does the money go?

The money you raise will go towards Maine based nonprofits. Those nonprofits who get at least 50 votes will automatically receive $500. Then there are 5 large cash prizes for those nonprofits who get the most votes (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th place for amount of votes received).

How much money should I raise?

Bangor Area Challenge for Charities participants should aim for a goal of $150 each (registration plus additional fundraising). The more you raise, the bigger your impact.  Also, you will have the chance to win some of the perks if you raise the most!

How do I access my personal fundraising page?

How do I submit the donations that I receive?

You’ll want to record these donations on your personal fundraising page or on a printed fundraising form. Deadline to mail donations is no later than Friday, June 15th. You may also drop these donations off at the swag bag (packet pickup) days or on event day at the registration desk.

Mail your checks (made out to the Rotary Club of Bangor Breakfast) with a completed pledge form to:

Please be sure to write the participant’s name on the memo line of each check (e.g., “John Smith, Bangor”).

What if a donor wrote a check out to the team or my name?

If you receive a check payable to your team, simply write “Rotary Club of Bangor Breakfast” above the team name entry. If the check is made out to you, please endorse the check payable to the Rotary Club of Bangor Breakfast.. Please be sure to write the participant’s name on the memo line of each check (e.g., “John Smith, Bangor).

How do I apply the donations I receive toward my fundraising goal?

If you did not record your offline donations, when we receive and process your donations, they are added to your fundraising total. Credit card donations made online onto your personal fundraising page are automatically added to your goal.

What if I want to fundraise but I can’t participate on event day?

You can be a Virtual Participant! Although you may not be walking, running, biking, or riding, your fundraising efforts will afford you the same voting incentive as all the other participants.

When is the money due?

The last deadline for donations are due on the event day Saturday, June 30th.

The last day to mail in pledges and have them count towards your fundraising is June 15th, 2018. Please note that online gifts are reflected in your fundraising total immediately. You can also submit your fundraising sheets and money the day of the event.

What happens if I register but do not raise the minimum fundraising goal by June 29th?

You still get to participate! The fundraising goal is just that, a goal! We hope everyone achieves it and more to help their favorite nonprofit, but not achieving the level you anticipated shouldn’t prevent you from having fun on event day.
